Sunday, August 13

We enjoyed watching wildlife on both of our trips today with some familiar visitors in the area. This morning we saw 3 humpback whales, 6 minke whales and a fin whale. This afternoon a few folks saw a brief glance of a fin whale before spending time with a pair of humpback whales. This morning we started whale watching with a trio of humpback whales including Jabiru, Spoon and Geometry.
Jabiru
These adult whales were all resting at the surface allowing for some impressive looks as both the whales and the boat bobbed up and down with the movements of the ocean.

Scattered throughout the trip we also saw minke whales and even got a quick look at a fin whale moving through the area.

This afternoon we saw a fin whale in the distance but were unable to relocate this massive creature. Instead, we decided to do some searching and our efforts paid off as we found a few of the same humpback whales from this morning.

This time we found Jabiru and Spoon slowly easing through the area, still resting, and still getting some fantastic looks. A very successful day in the Gulf of Maine.
