Wednesday morning was filled with harbor porpoises and fin whales, with a minke whale and some elusive sharks sneaking around. Fin whales are my favorite species- they are huge, mysterious, asymmetrically marked and just plain amazing! No, they aren't going to do all the flamboyant behaviors like humpback whales sometimes do, but these animals are confident in their own awesomeness! Just being amongst fin whales is humbling. I hope you all enjoyed them as much as we did!
Wednesday afternoon, we found several pods of Atlantic white sided dolphins! These little toothed whales are found on about 25 percent of our whale watching trips and are always a joy to watch!
One of the fin whales surfaced close to us several times, showing us just how huge these animals really are!
Thursday morning, we found more fin whales and dolphins, and a humpback whale.
This fin whale was amazing- coming up soooo close to us!! The dolphins also did not disappoint! And the humpback whale, although it only fluked once, was just being a humpback whale- swimming and breathing!
