Monday, September 7

We have had a busy summer but how it got to be Labor Day already is still crazy! The weather has reminded us that summer is still here and of course the whales have continued to be just as enjoyable recently. Today we saw 3 Humpback whales, at least 7 Fin whales, 8 Minke whales and an Ocean sunfish. We started whale watching only a handful of miles from Rye Harbor as we watched Hornbill the Humpback whale moving around the area.

We then pressed on and eventually found ourselves surrounded by whales. We were in an area where there was a pair of Humpback whales, plenty of Minke whales, and at least 5 Fin whales all circling around.

We eased our way into the area and spent some time with all the whales. We even spotted an Ocean sunfish in all the mix!

At any given moment there were whale spouts not far in every direction around the boat!

We checked out this "hot spot" of whale activity and then moved further offshore only to find a couple more Fin whales in route to the same area we had just left! So much whale activity on a beautiful holiday.
