August 7-8, 2023

There wasn't a breath of wind to start the day off on Monday. The only thing working against us was the raindrops, but whales don't mind water droplets, they live in it! The day started with one of three ocean sunfish for the trip, and a few minke whales (we saw 4 in total).

Further along, we checked out a fin whale circling around the area. Again, ocean conditions were fantastic. After a brief look at a basking shark, we were back underway.

Sightings wrapped up with three humpback whales - Pinball and her 2023 calf and Satula, both adoptable whales with Blue Ocean Society!

On Monday afternoon we headed back offshore. Our first stop was a pod of ~100 Atlantic white-sided dolphins!

Out on Jeffreys Ledge, we found two humpback whales, Satula and Ebony. Satula was busy circling the area allowing for some great looks at this whale. Ebony surprised us with a couple breaches followed by numerous flipper slaps!

With the weather keeping us on land all day Tuesday we'll have to wait until later this week for more marine life activity. Until then!
